In a stunning upset, Mario Kart Wii took the top spot on Amazon’s sales list. The week prior, the pre-order for the $90 Wii Fit beat out the $500 million GTA IV. Mario Kart has done well overseas, selling a half a million copies in Japan and occupying 21% of Wii owners shelves in the UK.
While this statistic for US sales only represents one website, Amazon is a massive market. This shows the increasingly strong Wii market in the US, especially given how it Mario Kart can roll through what many consider to the be the largest game release ever.
