While they’re not new to series canon, they are new to the visual style of Street Fighter IV. Sagat and Balrog join the roster for this classic franchise update.

Sagat was first seen in the rarely played Street Fighter as the final boss. He became the second to last boss in Street Fighter II, and finally became playable in Street Fighter II Championship Edition. While he disappeared from Street Fighter III (as did most of the roster), he did appear in the Alpha series, and finally comes back in what looks like stunning form in this fourth run of the series.

Balrog was the first boss players encountered in Street Fighter II, and like all of the bosses, landed a playable role in Championship Edition. His ground attack style was unique in that he had almost no jumping skills to dodge incoming projectiles, though later games let him swing by if special moves were timed right. Her re-emerged in Street Fighter Alpha 3, and sat out Street Fighter III. His fluid motions capture the power of the Las Vegas boxer even when done in 3-D.
