No fatalities? Seriously, no fatalities? Welcome to the end of a saga ladies and gentlemen.
The last Mortal Kombat stripped out all of the gruesome fun by letting players create their own fatalities, a far cry from ripping people’s arms off and beating them with them. Now, in the next installment, the fatality is apparently going the way of the Dodo. The obvious problem is DC comics who couldn’t fathom Sub-Zero ripping the heads off of The Flash or Superman. Seriously though, would you suddenly stop buying Electra comics if Scorpion burned her to a crisp?
With a mixture of DC comic characters who in no way fit into the series, Midway’s next Mortal Kombat isn’t exactly on the right track. The brief trailer seems to carry the same combo based memorization style gameplay of the recent 3-D Kombat’s, and that’s not good. Put this franchise back in 2-D where it actually worked and drop the combo nonsense and maybe, just maybe, the DC characters won’t be such a distraction.
