The struggle of Microsoft trying to gain any kind of a foothold in Japan are well known. Even with some more Japanese-centered games slowly making the system more attractive, it’s going to take more. Microsoft has decided lowering the price to nearly bargain basement levels will do the trick. Starting September 7th, the Arcade bundle (which is hard drive-less) will only be $183. The high end Elite will be $368. Over in Japan, the Wii retails for $231. For further comparison, the PS3 goes for $368.
So, is it desperation, or a business move to crush the competition?
