What you see is what you’ll get with Rare’s sequel to Viva Pinata 2. Once the game ships, that’s it. Rare will be moving on, possibly even to work on a new Banjo Kazooie… which is NOT Nuts & Bolts.
What that means is that when you’re done with Rare’s quirky gardening title, you’re really done. No extra pinatas, no new items, nothing. It’s sort of a curse and a blessing these days with DLC, sometimes coming in way overpriced and other times becoming a great value to extend a game. Justin Cook, lead designer, confirms the news:
We’d like to keep the cards coming for those people who enjoy the game and keep playing. We don’t have plans for DLC. We really focussed (sic) on the cards because we thought it was something interesting, and something we can work on without having to go through a long certification process or tie up the team for a long time.
At the very least, Viva Pinata 2 will offer four player online modes to hopefully help more people get into this fantastic little universe that was pitifully ignored by so many last time.
