Given the way the industry has been going lately, it’s surprising to see any DLC for free. Those who purchase Gears of War 2 will gain additional maps which will be immediately read for download on day one. The five maps aren’t new however. They’re graphically altered remakes of five popular selections from the original Gears: Canals, Gridlock, Mansion, Subway, and Tyro Station. That makes 15 playable maps at launch.
Also, if you attend one of the launch events for the game, you can snag a gold-plated Hammerburst gun. As of now, that’s the only way to get it. If you live in a small town not doing a special Gears 2 event, sorry.
