Beating the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and PSP combined, the iPhone is the choice for gamers who need a rapid fix of new games… even if 3,000 of the 6,200 of them are Arkanoid clones*. Over 1,500 games are currently free to download, with the puzzle genre taking up most of the virtual space (18%).
Most popular? Tapulous’ Tap Tap Revenge 2 remains atop the freebie category, while Pocket God, a title by Bolt Creative, is the one most people pay for.
On the serious side, people complain about saturation on the Wii, but the iPhone is completely out of control. 6,000+ is a crowded marketplace, and surely a few gems have been lost in the shuffle. Apple might want to start thinking about some quality control to help stop this flood.
*Sarcasm people, sarcasm.
