As if fans needed something else to fuel their Halo satisfaction, Halo Waypoint comes along to add even more to the experience. While Bungie.net offer countless screens of stats and maps, Waypoint is simplified. It takes hold of your Gamertag, picks up your achievements, and awards bonuses based on your progress across all Halo titles on the 360 so far (Halo Wars, ODST, and 3).
Immediately, Avatar Awards are unlocked when it scans your past achievements, the truly hardcore gaining Recon Armor free of charge (via an ODST Vidmaster achievement) for their Avatar, unlike certain companies who want $5 for a lightsaber. Awards are unlocked based on specific achievements, while new medals are awarded for certain levels of achievement gains (50 points, 100 points) across all games.
Navigating Waypoint is simple, and the content is a reason to come back. Currently in beta, Waypoint offers items like video strategies, launch events, and pictures from the community based on Warthog combat. As new achievements are unlocked, you can check back in to see if new virtual medals have been obtained.
Users in the current NXE preview program (which includes Twitter, Facebook, and Last.fm apps) can download Waypoint – at around 135MB- and beat their friends to Avatar Awards. The update will be live to all on November 5th.
