Lunia Chronicles is a manga-styled, heavily action-based MMORPG, created by South Korean developer Allm, and published by OGPlanet in Europe. With the success of it’s European beta release last week, Lunia has officially launched in PAL territories starting the 18th of November. OGPlanet is also including a 30 day launch event to celebrate, offering players a chance to win a Dell XPS gaming laptop. In order to qualify, Lunia players must download the game and reach level 50 by December 16th to be entered into the draw. It may sound like an awful lot of work, but because of the relative ease of leveling in Lunia, players should have no trouble hitting that mark.
In addition to the laptop giveaway a new character, the young elf Dacy, will be joining the cast of Lunia (alongside Eir, Dain, Seig, and Tia). Additional episodes and new in-game items are also available.
Lunia Chronicles has quite a large following world-wide, and is described as as combining “the fun of an arcade game with the strategies and development of an MMORPG.” But what exactly does that entail?

Have fun brawling through that
Lunia is something like the love-child between an action/brawler and an online RPG. Fighting is very action-oriented, and much like in fighting games, players string together attacks to combo and juggle their opponents. Ideally, you combo and juggle you’re opponent ’til its death, as it obviously can’t retaliate if it’s on the receiving end of an aerial butt-whooping.
In addition to fun, combo-centric game play, the game features your typical MMORPG conventions; quests, new weapons and armor, experience, Player vs. Player combat, and of course multiplayer and raids. All of which greatly enrich the game play.
Rather than creating a character from scratch, players select a ready-made character -like a figher or mage- and quest on from there, in the same vein as an arcade game. Players still have a degree of customization with costumes and such, so it isn’t a bad thing at all, especially since the gameplay is the focus of Lunia.
The end result is an eclectic and brilliantly fun experience that few MMORPGs dare to attempt. Players should definitely give Lunia Chronicles a try if they haven’t already.
