Could an EA Sports franchise have died to join the NCAA Baseballs and Arena Footballs in that great sports game heaven above?
The poor-selling NCAA basketball franchise, March Madness, has failed to appear on a listing of EA’s upcoming games for 2010. However, the list is noted not to be complete, but sports games, unlike some others, are typically guaranteed releases. Not including one is certainly questionable.
Previous years have saw a dip in sales, surely due to the prior decline in quality of the NBA Live series before that made a comeback. When sales were already lukewarm, and the public realizes the competition is better, that generally spells doom.
Maybe it is time to go back to Coach K, the Genesis classic that remains one of the best basketball titles ever made despite its age.
