The Guilty Gear series has a storied and respectable history of quality and competition. Unfortunately, the last official iteration of a proper Guilty Gear game was back in 2008 and it was only a revision. The series can be considered a relic among fighting games now but it retains a devoted and rabid fanbase desperate for anything. Which is why news of a re-release of its last version is like an oasis in a desert.
In addition to news that Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus being ported to Japanese arcades, the title will also be ported to XBLA and PSN, complete with netplay. There’s still no news as to when it’ll be released and how much it’ll cost but GG fans are sure to clamor onto this news.
With the prominence of new-school style fighting games like Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and the soon to release Street Fighter X Tekken, now is a good a time as ever to revitalize the Guilty Gear series by bringing back classic fans and drawing in new ones.
