Microsoft issued what seemed to be a simple dashboard update to fix the video issues that have been present since the new Dash went live. That fix is evident, but so is another: Indie Games are no longer buried behind “hoodie girl,” – as she came to be known.
Heading to Games > New Releases > Indie Games brings up the latest selection, the most prominent placement to date. It’s an improvement even over the previous dashboard, finally pushing these oft forgotten community-developed titles into the spotlight.
Indie devs were not happy with the prior placement, developer Mommy’s Best Games going so far as to create a quickie SHMUP called Game Type to express displeasure. The satire apparently worked. This tenuous relationship seems to have found a middle ground that should, hopefully, bring both sides together.
