We were so close. One of MPG’s favorite XBLA titles, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, was FINALLY set for the launch of its DLC that included online play and playable character Wallace. It has been roughly three years since the DLC first flickered onto the internet, and February 5th, 2013 was supposed to be the day. UbiSoft even produced a trailer touting the date.
And now, it’s not coming.
UbiSoft’s statement on the delay (sent to Destructoid) is a little cryptic:
“The downloadable content for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game has been delayed for fine-tuning and to incorporate feedback from the passionate Scott Pilgrim community. Ubisoft is addressing feedback from the community on the best ways to honor retro games in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game DLC in an accurate and respectful manner. Ubisoft, and the new team developing the DLC, respect creative properties and, of course, want to be sure to deliver a game experience that is a proper tribute to the Scott Pilgrim franchise.”
So, what could it be? One of the most eagle-eyed people on the planet recognized a Wallace sprite animation that was actually a clone from the Game Boy Advance title Sonic Battle. Wow. Not only did someone remember Sonic Battle, they zoned in on the specific animation which is a pink dust cloud of sorts.
Internet, never stop amazing me.
