Last Chaos

Posted by MPG-David on Wednesday 7th of May 2008 05:05:38 AM

lc_36_preview.jpgIn my last post I was talking about the MPG site ‘ Aeria games’ http://www.aeriagames.com/. This is a review on the game ‘Last Chaos’ which is one of there downloadable MPRPG’s.

Last Chaos which you can find here http://lastchaos.aeriagames.com/ is your classic RPG, In that it does not offer anything different in terms of game-play, from your standard RPG.

However its the online environment, and its unique take on crucial online interaction and pet companion’s in order to succeed in the game. That make ‘Last Chaos’ particularly addictive.

The members area for ‘Last Chaos’ also has daily events, completion of which can earn you ‘Aeria points’ which enable you to upgrade your characters faster than if you just upgrade their skills through battle.

A site worth checking out

Posted by MPG-David on Monday 5th of May 2008 01:05:33 PM

A very cool looking girl with wings onI spent most of my Saturday looking around the Internet, and I came across a fantastic site called ‘Aeria Games’, which is definitely worth checking out!

The site is basically all about free, yes that is correct ‘free’ online multi-player RPG’S. All you have to do is register. Which gets you into your own account, complete with a profile with which you can communicate with other online gamers which is pretty cool. And from there you download one of there many RPG’S, so that you can play it.

I am still exploring this site, and its many features. And I will keep you updated on there RPG’S. Especially the one I just downloaded ‘Last Chaos’ of which I have included some screen shots. Its a multiple player RPG set in the land of Iris, within which terror reigns after an epic battle with the gods. As a player you have full control over your characters destiny, and as such every action and decision you make affects your characters path through the game. It is through completing missions and exploring the world of ‘Last Chaos’ that you increase your characters abilities, enabling you to become the true Ruler of Iris.

And I have to say it looks pretty good! I will keep you posted on the site and all the games within it.

I also recommend you check out their amazingly frustrating but highly addictive ‘mini games’ which you have access too, from your profile. One of the cities

Awesome Halo 3 Betrayal Video (Why we love Xbox Live)

Posted by Justin on Tuesday 15th of April 2008 02:12:25 PM

By now, Halo 3 videos are a dime a dozen. We’ve all seen ‘em before, and most are admittedly pretty lame. However, I spotted this one on Kotaku and couldn’t resist posting it here. So, check out the glory that is the mystery Warthog betrayal.

Let us hope that every multiplayer game from now till the end of time includes the playback feature.

Like Crysis? You Can’t Play Multiplayer

Posted by MPG_Travis on Wednesday 28th of November 2007 07:29:05 AM

crysis multiplayer soup nazi

Crytek has contacted Crysis community fansite inCrysis to let them know that

…We are aware of the currently occurring issues regarding playing Crysis Multiplayer online. We are already in touch with Gamespy, EA and the world-wide server provider to resolve the problems. This topic has the highest priority for us now and we hope to come up with a solution as quickly as possible.

Crysis’ most loyal and supportive fans – the ones who played the multiplayer beta or single player demo, but waited to uninstall them until after they installed Crysis – are unable to play the graphically impressive FPS online. Thankfully, inCrysis has the details on six different workarounds, but unfortunately, none of them are very pleasant, including such hassles as re-entering your CD key and editing the Windows registry. Of course, using some superpowers on fellow gamers in the game’s beautiful environments just might be worth the trouble. Who am I kidding? Of course it is.

Still, this is a pretty obvious problem to slip past EA’s QA department. Nothing like buying a new game to find you can only play half of it, and unlike most game-crippling problems on the PC, there isn’t even a patch to fix this one.

Warbirds/Confirmed Kill: First true MMO changed gaming, life forever.

According to a thread in our Forums, no one seems to remember a game that helped start this crazy world of multiplayer gaming. Yes, I know we talk about old school gaming a lot here, but I believe it’s important for you kids to know the roots of your favorite online games. The game I speak of is called Warbirds, by iEntertainment Network’s Total Simulation series. This game was what got me hooked on online, multiplayer games, and I believe it was one of the first true and pure MMO’s.

Way back in 1995, (yes, in the last millennium) I was reading a gaming magazine (yes, it was made out of paper) and it was touting a title named ‘Confirmed Kill’ that was set to revolutionize interactive and simulation gaming for the PC. The screenshots were enough to captivate me. The article wrote of battles fought between literally *dozens* of real life, real time players in a World War II simulated air-combat theatre. This, quite literally, blew my mind.

Check out the rest of my nostalgic rambling after the jump.

GTA IV Trailer

Posted by Eric on Sunday 18th of November 2007 11:06:59 AM

I know this is months and months and months late…but its still a great trailer. GTA IV looks to be one very cool game. As a huge fan of the GTA series dating back to the birds eye view of the first PC version I can’t wait for this game to come out! There have been rumors and speculations surrounding a GTA IV delay (possibly due to Halo 3’s mega launch) but who knows. Keep watching this space for updates…but until then we can at least enjoy the trailer:

Microsoft Announces New Marketplace Products

Posted by MPG_musikagod on Sunday 18th of November 2007 06:16:21 AM

Microsoft has released their new objectives to release the original Xbox games as downloadable content in the Marketplace. According to 1Up.com, the games will not have achievement points; rather, the games will be emulations that play exactly like they did on Xbox. This makes for nothing special to announce.
Xbox Live Marketplace
Most the good Xbox games are compatible with the 360. So, if you really wanted to play them still, you probably still own an actual copy. Most of us are probably running out of too much space to hold these games. For $15 a pop it may be cheaper and easier to just get a hard copy of the game.

It would be advised that you save your Marketplace credits for the games that are real classics. These “contemporary” classic games are nothing too special. Without adding achievement points, levels, or other features, it just seems like a pointless “feature” for the Xbox Live community.

Who has 4 PS3’s Video (also who has 3 PS3’s video)

Posted by Eric on Sunday 4th of November 2007 08:10:12 AM

These two videos are what the Internet was invented for. This may not have too much to do about multiplayer gaming but I could not resist posting both of these. First up is a video that was hot last week about a guy who is has 3 PS3’s. The following video is a follow up to the first uber geek who actually has 4 PS3’s. Does anyone know how many times they say PS 3?

What could possibly follow up a video of this caliber? Checkout below for something even worse…

Enjoy!

Bonus Link: Wired.com writes about an astrophysicist using a cluster of eight (8!!!) PS3s to crunch the mind-blowing numbers involved in modeling gravitational waves. From Wired: “Apparently Dr. Gaurav Khanna is employing his so-called ‘gravity grid’ of PS3s to help measure these theoretical gravity waves — ripples in space-time that travel at the speed of light…Check out the full article here, and brace yourself for awesome on a cosmological scale.

Unlock Xbox Betas Live

Posted by MPG_PuzzleFighterFan on Saturday 3rd of November 2007 07:39:21 AM

Xbox Live Contest

It’s been a while, but this nifty little contest from Microsoft and Doritos has finally went into a beta phase. Five winners had their game design ideas selected to become full on Xbox Live Arcade games. A fun series of documentaries has been on the Live Marketplace for weeks (and can be viewed on the contests website). This is significant because you can now play these games, voting on the one you like to make it onto the Arcade later on down the road.

Now, these games are early, but there’s some questionable calls. For the dodgeball game, they spent some time rendering an opening video, but added almost no animation or physics into the main game. To judge that and imagine it as a finished product, well, that’s not easy. It could end up a classic, but how are gamers supposed to gauge this based on these meager Flash-based presentations?

They also spent time adding achievements, options, and even a currently locked multi-player option. The core gameplay desperately needed to be the focus here. Betas or not, these are not the way first impressions should be.

EA Wants Standardized Hardware, World Misses Irony

Posted by MPG_PuzzleFighterFan on Wednesday 24th of October 2007 08:42:32 AM

By gamereviewgod

EA’s Head of International Publishing Gerhard Florin stated in an interview with BBC that “We want an open, standard platform which is much easier than having five which are not compatible.”

Ironic coming from someone inside a company founded by Trip Hawkins, the same man who tried this back in the early/mid ‘90s. Hawkins was the mind behind the 3DO, a console with standardized hardware which any manufacturer could take and make their own version. Ahead of its time, the system failed due to its absurdly high price.

Stranger still, EA makes a ton off of multi platform releases. Madden appears on the PSP, DS, PS3, 360, mobile phones, PS2, Wii, Xbox, and PC. That’s a lot of consumers, though admittedly a lot of coding too. Think of Madden on a single platform, unified online multi-player, and everyone on equal ground. Interesting concept, but the market doesn’t see to have any problem handling itself now, and EA is doing a fine job or reaping profits off the current model.

That said, imagine a world where fanboys argue over which model of this standardized hardware is the best as opposed to the Sony vs. Microsoft vs. Nintendo conflict we have now.
