A follow up to the 2006 dual analog shooter romp, Assault Heroes 2 does everything a sequel needs to. Sharper graphics, new weapons, a longer quest, fresh enemies, and more focused co-op make this an instant purchase for all fans of the original.
A rare direct sequel to a Live Arcade title (Hexic being the only [...]

The date was 9/9/99. On that day, Sega launched the Dreamcast. Alongside hotly anticipated titles like Sonic Adventure, NFL 2K, and Ready to Rumble, Namco released Soul Calibur. Previously known as Soul Blade to PlayStation owners, Soul Calibur was an immense, addictive, and involving 3-D fighter. It was graphically lush, and it’s booming soundtrack sat [...]

A radical new move in Gears of War 2, the ability to chainsaw through your foe, is grabbing mainstream media attention.
Actually, wait… you could chainsaw through the Locust critters in the original too. But hey, why let that stop the intrepid (and typically clueless) mainstream reporter from jumping on the bandwagon and whipping up a [...]

Following a disappointing sophomore effort with Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, this second spin with Rainbow Six Vegas follows a similar path. Dated visuals and familiar mechanics hardly make this title feel fresh, and the one man army scenario near the end of the single player campaign defeats any sense of realism left after taking down [...]

So much for the yearly sports update.
Now under the banner of EA Canada after EA Chicago was shut down, Fight Night will be back for a fourth round. The press release was lacking in details, but does note a new gameplay and animation engine. Sadly, it goes no further.
The bigger news here? The [...]

The upcoming release of a Dreamcast classic on the Live Arcade is looking better than the original. Detail appears sharper, character models look cleaner, and the texture work is flawless (especially on the ground). The flaw? The game does not support widescreen, stuck inside a 4:3 window with an ugly, nasty border around it. Here’s [...]

In a stunning upset, Mario Kart Wii took the top spot on Amazon’s sales list. The week prior, the pre-order for the $90 Wii Fit beat out the $500 million GTA IV. Mario Kart has done well overseas, selling a half a million copies in Japan and occupying 21% of Wii owners shelves in the [...]

A sleeper near classic, Viva Pinata was lost in a holiday shuffle of titles and criminally ignored by many gamers. After a surprisingly decent cartoon and not so good party game spin-off that’s better off ignored, a full fledged follow up is on its way. What’s it adding? Loads.
First up, two players can now hop [...]

Nine days is all it took for one million gamers to download the map pack for the insanely popular Call of Duty. That’s 111,111 per day. That’s also $1,111,110 each day. Who gets that bonus? Infinity Ward had this to say about the stat:
Infinity Ward is extremely grateful for support from our loyal Call of [...]

Another Grand Theft Auto, another batch of controversy. Here’s a rundown of some of the more popular stories concerning the game:
Always vocal UK Labour MP Keith Vaz says he wasn’t surprised about a stabbing in a line amongst those waiting for the game. The problem with his views? The person doing the stabbing wasn’t there [...]

As millions devour Call of Duty and Halo map packs at $10 a pop, Sierra apparently didn’t see that as being a profitable venture. That, or they’re just really nice guys.
The first and probably only map pack for the time altering first person shooter contains five maps in a measly 171 MB download. This [...]
