Those who tend to play a lot of Modern Warfare 2 have undoubtedly come across someone using the infuriating care package glitch… at least if you’re on the 360 where the problem has still not been corrected despite PC and PS3 users already having non-cheating fun. Thankfully, the patch is not too far away, as confirmed [...]

Maybe that headline is not completely appropriate. In prior Call of Duty titles, including the original Modern Warfare and World at War specifically, I was a decent player. My kill-to-death ratio was around 1.25, certainly not great, but tolerable for my own run-and-gun style of play. Modern Warfare 2 however, is different. Currently, with three days [...]

Japanese gamers looking to enlist in the latest crusade of Soap and Ghost in Activision’s Modern Warfare 2 are slightly miffed at publisher Square/Enix. In particular, the No Russian mission, the controversial level which has the player shooting civilians at an airport, cannot be skipped. Not only that, the player cannot fire a shot, as [...]

Infinity Ward took action against their first round of cheaters in the PC edition of the latest Call of Duty, using Steam’s VAC anti-cheat system to kick about 2,500 people from the online lobbies. Over on Amazon, potential Game of the Year candidate Modern Warfare 2 holds a whopping 1.5 rating from the user reviews. Why? The games lack of dedicated servers, which many felt defeats the openess of PC gaming. We won’t argue with that, as it is a valid point. However, despite throes of people crying foul and [...]

Having a bad day? Ready to laugh at the expense of other people? We have you covered. The firm states that the timing of Microsoft’s action was “convenient” as they happened [...]

Activision/Infinity Ward’s latest entry into the Call of Duty series pushed an incredible 4.7 million copies according to Activision on its first day of sales, US and UK sales included. That brings up the question if that number takes into account the number of copies sold earlier through a supposedly “official” early launch at corporate giant [...]

Since its inception, with multiple developers, different wars, and different locations, one thing has remained consistent with Call of Duty: It was a first-person shooter. A separate player match playlist inside Modern Warfare 2 is going to switch things up however. The unspecified private (that’s important) multiplayer mode will take place in a third-person view. You [...]

Want to know why many people prefer the PC version of many popular games these days? Dedicated servers, hosted by the true geeks among us. Kudos to them, spending the money to host games, allow for user generated content, custom game modes, and more. It is likely the reason Valve shooters seem to dominate the [...]

Let this stand as one of the few cases where a developer eliminating cooperative play from a game can be seen as a positive. Infinity Ward’s Rob Bowling stated that adding co-op play to Modern Warfare 2 would cause problems within the story. Adding co-op led to this: “But it really broke the cinematic experience, took [...]
