Square Enix announced in Los Angeles on the 13th of October that a compilation entailing the entire Final Fantasy XI world (including all previous expansions and add-on scenarios), will be available as a download, and as a retail product starting November 12 2009. Dubbed the Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection, this impressive release will be available solely for Windows PC and the Xbox 360.

Assuming the deal is shareholder approved, Square Enix will be the proud owners of a few shiny new franchises come May. The company will be purchasing Eidos, makers of Tomb Raider, early that month (supposedly May 6th). Shareholder approval is expected.
