PS3 – Firmware 2.40 Deatails Leaked

Details about the coming PS3 Firmware 2.40 are making rounds on the net lately. The most recent confirmed item is, of course, PSN director Eric Lempel’s official announcement that FW 2.40 will include in-game access of the XMB and trophies.

Everything aside from that, unfortunately, have been taken from the rumor bin, including (but not limited to) some leaked screens of the PS3 trophies, the function to play your own music in-game, and others besides.

CVG hear that PS3 Firmware 2.40 will be heading out in three weeks’ time – right in the middle of E3, actually. Possible? Yes, I imagine Sony revealing the PS3 Firmware 2.40 features during the E3 event, and simultaneously making it available to download on the same day

Aside from a release window, CVG learned that there are four types of trophies to be had: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, all achievable by a leveling-up system (probably similar to that of CoD4) – not by “gamer points”.

It also looks like getting to play your own music while playing a game will be possible on Firmware 2.40. CVG reports that there will be the usual music player functions such as Play, Pause, Next Track, Previous Track, Change volume, Change repeat mode, and Change shuffle mode.

Here’s the list of PS3 Firmware 2.40 features that was leaked to CVG:

  • Friend category
  • View, send, receive messages
  • Manage downloads
  • Set the vibration feature of the controller
  • Sign in to PlayStation Network
  • Register friends
  • Manage Bluetooth devices
  • Terminate the game
  • Music category
  • Use the system BGM
  • Work the system BGM operation panel
  • Settings category
  • Assign controllers
  • View profiles
  • Game category
  • Set audio devices
  • Use the voice changer

I’m ticking this one off with the Rumor label until Sony officially confirm this.

Pakistani court refuses to ban Indian movies over IPL row website indian movies online

Hindustan Times (New Delhi, India) March 2, 2010 Karachi, March. 2 — A Pakistani court Tuesday dismissed a petition to ban Indian movies after the country’s players were snubbed in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in Mumbai in January.

The Lahore High Court ruled that the IPL’s decision to ignore Pakistani players was a move by a private company.

Justice Waqar Hasan, who heard the case, said he does not find any reason to ban Indian movies since it was a decision of private franchises.

A private petitioner wanted Indian movies to be banned in Pakistani cinemas after none of the 11 Pakistani players was picked in the IPL auction. go to website indian movies online

IPL franchisees decided against signing up any Pakistani cricketers for the third edition of the lucrative Twenty20 league in spite of the fact that Pakistan is the reigning World Twenty20 champion. The move ignited a strong reaction in Pakistan.

But the franchisees said their decision was based on commercial considerations as they were not sure the Pakistani players would be available for all IPL matches.
