While many thought the series died with the second game, Rockstar is bringing back Max Payne for a third shot. Apparently, that awful, terrible Max Payne movie wasn’t enough to kill the franchise off for good. Then again, maybe the game is trying to make up for it. This third entry will land on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PS3 in the winter of ’09, meaning you can play on playing this one during the holiday season along with everything else.
Sam Houser, head of Rockstar, laid out what’s different in the sequel:
“We’re starting a new chapter of Max’s life with this game. This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation.”
Really, we’ve never seen him a few years older? Never would have thought that. Kidding aside, for the love of all things holy in video game land, please don’t include anymore of those atrocious platforming dream sequences this time. Thanks.
