If I operated a multi-billion dollar company, and I wanted to make even more money, how could I do it? I know! Stop providing cardboard shipping packages for my customers that have given me $400, and randomly continue to give me anywhere from $5-$60.
Sound stupidly greedy? Well, this is exactly what Microsoft has decided to do. The boxes previously provided for victims of the infamous RRoD are permanetly being done away with. A Microsoft spokesperson says, “Customers can now ship their consoles themselves using an e-label provided by Microsoft and do not need to wait for an empty box to be shipped to them.” Apparently, those boxes where just breaking poor Bill Gates. Ah well, just blame the economy I guess.
