PSP Go UMD Conversion Concept Dropped

There are a lot of times where we lose faith in our fellow man. One of those times was when we learned Sony was considering a UMD-to-digital conversion program for PSP Go buyers. Why on Earth anyone would want to lose a piece of physical media, one that can be traded, resold, and is fully owned for a digital version that loses all of those aspects, was baffling.

Thankfully, that concept has been dropped, as the various challenges of such a program were too much. Sony director of hardware marketing John Koller states to Kotaku:

“We were evaluating a UMD conversion program, but due to legal and technical reasons we will not be offering the program at this time.”

Thank you Sony, even if the reasoning behind it wasn’t pure logic.
