There is something rather exciting about the advent of a new expansion for an MMORPG, and EverQuest II‘s upcoming expansion Sentinel’s Fate is certainly no exception. In addition to two new overland areas to explore (The Sundered Frontier and Stonebrunt Highlands), players can reach the new level cap (level 90), explore twelve new dungeons, undertake some 400 new quests, collect over two thousand new pieces of equipment and items, expand their arsenal with new alternate advancement abilities and of course, battle against hundreds of new foes.

Of the Erudin dungeon series, the Erudin Library is the easiest, designed for levels 87-89. Designed as a murder mystery of sorts, players must track down a killer and bring him to justice, collecting clues to help piece together the puzzle.

Brett “Timetravelling” Scheinert, head of the creation of the Erudin zones, says the area “… was built as a Clue-style murder mystery. In order to get the best possible rewards (and complete some quests), players must search the zone for clues and accuse and defeat the guilty Scholar Primarch.”

The second area, the Erudin Research Halls, is designed for players level 88 and above. A haven for scientific research, there are puzzles that need solving before players can tackle the area’s boss.

Brett Scheinert states that “Stephanie Young worked to create a large central room so that players run into the final boss almost immediately. However, it is protected by a number of powerful beams of energy that make it nearly unstoppable. In order to turn them off, players must traverse the rest of the zone.”

For your information, Stephanie Young also worked on Erudin in EverQuest and EverQuest Online Adventures.

The last of the Erudin instances is the Erudin Royal Palace. The most difficult of the instanced dungeons, it is designed for groups level 90 and above.

Brett Scheinert comments that, “This is the seat of Lord Primarch’s power and the Erudites and Gruengach that players face within are powerful and extremely deadly. The boss encounters are complex and hard-hitting, and the visuals are spectacular”

EverQuest II: Sentinel’s Fate hits store shelves on February 16, 2010, and will be available for digital download on February 23, 2010.
