Another solo release week, a pattern so in 2010 with only exception.
A popular indie PC game for sometime, it is not hard to see why. This is a uniquely beautiful title, an odd mixture of dual analog shooter and RTS. The goal is to destroy a virus, pick up the “souls,” turn them into Darwinians, and lead them away.
Darwinia+ moves at a leisurely pace, almost as if its goal it to allow you to take it all in. Despite the desperate nature of the virtual scenario, this is a surprisingly calm title, even in versus multiplayer. Its refreshing as most titles with dual-analog shooting controls are keen on overwhelming the player with enemies. Darwinia just wants the player to to enjoy its unique vistas and style.
