Walter Day, the face of Twin Galaxies’ record keeping for ages, is retiring after 30 years on the job. Many will remember Day from his appearance in the spectacular documentary King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.
Day may be retiring, but he will be present at the opening of the Video Game Hall of Fame in Ottumwa, Iowa in August. He will also be focusing on a music career, also seen briefly in the film. Day of course leaves behind a legacy of score monitoring for Twin Galaxies, tracking records for countless classic arcade games and keeping the competition alive. His full announcement can be seen above.
No word on who will be replacing Day in his position at this time, but hopefully it is someone with his level of energy and charisma.
