Don’t worry RTS fanatics. The addition of 3D won’t delay the launch of the hotly anticipated StarCraft II. The game is still on schedule for July 27th.
For those with the proper equipment, an update to the game will follow, “in the first few months” to allow 3D, according to production director Chris Sagaty. The technology will work with Nvidia cards and the appropriate screen. Support for other cards is likely too according to unnamed rep speaking to IGN.
PC gamers are generally the type to keep things up to date, equipping their rigs with insanely powerful equipment, so is this how 3D can find its niche? General consumers are not apt to picking up a brand new TV and home theater equipment, but PC gamers like a steady flow of new stuff to tinker with. Will this be the starting point for this tech, or will it remain niche?
