You may have heard of Daigo Umehara from this clip. Now, the Beast has some basics for anyone looking to crash the fighting scene.
In a recent appearance on Japan’s NHK, Daigo demonstrated the best grip for competitive play. The Street Fighter pro discussed the two most common techniques, cupping the stick and open palm, explaining, “These two styles of holding the joystick aren’t a good fit with Street Fighter” due to a lack of precision.
Instead, Daigo uses an adapted open palm where he grips with his ring finger and pinkie.
