At GDC, lead network engineer David Aldridge took the stage to announce that Bungie’s next project would massively multiplayer and that it was similar to “WoW in space.” That’s huge coming from the house of Halo who recently chose to become their own entity.
However, in their latest weekly update, Bungie clarifies those statements as a joke… one that didn’t work. At all. With anyone. They state Aldridge assured them all it would work and that the delivery was clear enough. No one got it, and everyone began chattering about what that MMO could be.
Sadly, we might never know since it was a one-off joke and nothing actually in progress. Or, at least that’s the stance Bungie is taking. Maybe it’s all a viral prank?
