A single title this week, unfortunately buried under the weight of 17 different retail titles for the 360 alone this week.
There’s a clear reason for Xotic to exist, its retro sensibilities, speed, and score push are all remnants of gaming’s past. Shuffled into a first-person shooter though, the whole thing becomes clumsy, this colorful world of kooky character designs never very appealing. The idea of spending hours shooting red, popping plants in the midst of real combat doesn’t exactly entice player into a purchase. Leveling up adds a little spice to this one, making the mechanics hit a little harder than their initially weak selves, but there’s not much in the way of energy to Xotic, it’s ultimate downfall.
