Let’s be honest: when you describe Minecraft to friends, you inevitably compare it to Legos. Soon, that analogy will become much more than an apt comparison.
Mojang Studios has announced they’re in talks with Legos in order to produce Minecraft themed Lego kits. First, they have to prove their idea is good enough for the higher ups at Lego to actually consider the theme to be good enough for sale. To do that, they’ve submitted their idea to Cuusoo, a Lego sponsored site where people with ideas for the company gather support. Mojang’s project will need 10,000 supporters before it’ll start turning heads at Lego.
Mojang’s business rep Daniel Kaplan has indicated that Lego already knows how big Minecraft is and talks have already begun. The Cuusoo page is likely just a place to get fans together on the project and vote on prospective designs.
To top things off, 1% of royalties from Lego Cuusoo will be going to charity. As you can see, Minecraft builds more than just unfathomably large and unnecessary structures; it builds dreams too.
I’m still left to wonder if regular Lego pieces are already Minecraft themed as they are.
