Namco Bandai Responds to Dark Souls PC Petition

Challenging the Hydra. (Dark Souls, Namco Bandai)

Last week, a thread on the European Namco Bandai forums received plenty of attention when forum administrator Shoupinou suggested that a PC version of Dark Souls may be possible if demand was high enough. With a petition for a PC Dark Souls adaptation raising over 70,000 signatures over the span of a week, as well as the web-wide attention the subject has received, it seems Namco Bandai has taken note of the response.

Administrator Shoupinou recently followed-up with the forum on the subject, expressing his surprise over the support for a PC version of Dark Souls.

“I honestly wasn’t expecting such a massive support. My boss(es) even came to talk to me about this, after it explodes all around the world. If you wanted to have the attention of Namco Bandai Games, now you have it.

“The future is in your hands, and I hope you will keep supporting this.

“I make a personal objective to make sure every relevant people in Namco Bandai Games is in touch with this formidable effort.”

Within a day of the Admin Shoupinou’s original post in the thread back on the 5th of January, a petition was created to support a PC release of Dark Souls, and gaming communities all over the web discussed the matter at great length. The petition now stands over 70,000 signatures at the time of this writing, and that number is still climbing steadily, nearly a week after the petition was published.

While this new statement does not ensure that a PC version of Dark Souls is in the works, it is fantastic to hear that Namco Bandai is giving the matter its attention. With any luck, we will hear more about a PC Dark Souls from Namco Bandai in the near-future.

If you are interested in seeing Dark Souls on the PC and have not already signed the petition, be sure to check it out here. You may also want to visit the original thread on the Namco Bandai message boards and post your thoughts there.
