Your Xbox Live Achievements Will Mean Something This Fall

Depending on who you ask, achievements are the most important thing in the world or a nondescript beeping sound that plays when you do strange or boring milestones. Beginning this Fall, the bland Xbox Live Rewards program will receive a little spice by letting members receives rewards based on their achievements.

The Xbox Rewards twitter announced the small tidbit without much fanfare.

“We’ve hit 50,000 followers, which means it’s time for an announcement! Coming Fall: a new way to earn Rewards based on your Achievements!”

I’m a member of the Rewards program myself and it’s a bit underwhelming. Sure, 20 extra Microsoft points a month can add up along with whatever random objectives they have such as renewing your gold subscription, but overall it doesn’t have whole lot of impact. With a fairly healthy 50,000 achievement points from years of playing Xbox 360 games, I’m pretty excited at the prospect of cashing those fairly pointless numbers out.
