While earlier versions of Windows 8 contained the Microsoft Points system, the latest iterations do not. Users can purchase movies and other items with actual, real money in actual, real dollar amounts. Really.
Earlier in the year, rumors began sprouting up about the Xbox 360 being one of the key Microsoft products to adopt a non-MS Points currency. As of now, that rumor hasn’t come to surface again, but if Windows 8 is making the change – and Microsoft is pushing for synergy between all of their devices – then this could continue down the family line.
Hopefully, this transition is sooner rather than later.
