Rival Schools and Capcom Vs. SNK 2 Might be Returning Digitally

Digital revivals of classic fighting games are everywhere these days. First there was Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, then Marvel Vs. Capcom Origins, and even Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure! But for a lot of people, one big obvious one is still missing, along with one smaller one with more of a cult following by comparison.

Hideaki Itsuno was interviewed by AnimeNewsNetwork for the work being put into DMC. He was also behind Rival Schools and Capcom Vs. SNK 2, so with the recent fighting game revivals, the interviewers went ahead and asked if those two games had a chance at digital re-releases. When asked about Rival Schools,

“I happen to have certain plans to do things like that. I don’t know if it’ll come to fruition, but it’s on my agenda for sure.”

When prodded about Capcom Vs. SNK 2, he also said, “”Funny you should ask. I’m also planning some things there.”

So the plans are there, but just like Yoshinori Ono and his drive to bring back Darkstalkers, things are far from confirmed. Still, if Darkstalkers can get re-released with Resurrection, I think a game as big as Capcom Vs. SNK 2 has a fairly good chance. And Rival Schools can probably ride its coat tails to release as well.
