Steam on Linux isn’t Just Crazy Talk Now

Some people I listen to think that Valve taking Steam to Linux in an implied protest to Windows 8 was just plain crazy. Well, crazy just got taken to the next level because Valve is accepting applications to beta test Steam on Linux.

The 1,000 person beta is interested in accepting experienced power users, which should be a fine qualifier seeing as how most people who use Linux are experienced computer people anyways. Of course, like console gaming, you need good titles on a platform before people get on board even if we’re talking about a beta. Developer Croteam reveals that Serious Sam 3: BFE, Portal 2, and Team Fortress 2 will be on board at the beta’s launch. It might be small at first, but they’ve definitely chosen serious contenders to start with. And it’ll only grow from here.
