Footage of Unreleased Star Wars Lightsaber Game is Cool “What-If”

Gigante, a studio that produced a somewhat questionable fighter in Tao Feng for the original Xbox, was shopping around a potential Star Wars fighting game based around lightsaber duels before they closed in 2005.

Conceptually, the game was set to be a 3D fighter with wildly shifting cameras to showcase the often lyrical fighting style of the Jedi. Of course, any lightsaber strike should sever limbs, but here it almost works. Most look like glancing blows unless they end the match, and force powers counter-act the strikes cleanly. Of course, this in-engine demo is clearly early but the design ideals show something interesting. We will never know what the finished product could have been though.

However, even this has to be better than the infamous PlayStation affair Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi, right?
