While most of the enjoyment from Poker Night 2 is dependent upon in-jokes and references to the slate of characters, those on the “in” will have a blast. Personality is exuded from all corners of the table as this hodgepodge of gaming and TV/film characters banter back-and-forth over the game. Otherwise, it is a fairly typical game of poker, only saturated with the immeasurable charms of Telltale. Players tackle Texas Hold ‘Em style play in a tournament with subtle cues evident in the animation routines to show the opponent’s hand. It’s smarter than you would expect, and short of repetition, there’s no reason to skip any of the rich conversation.
