EA wasn’t talking about just future releases when they said their online pass strategy was going away. EA’s catalog of older games with online passes are slowly becoming free as well. You don’t have to worry about buying these games used now, especially now that most of the affected titles should be old enough that you’d probably consider buying them used anyways.
The roll out has affected Xbox Live first, as discovered by the enterprising gumshoes over at NeoGAF. But EA states that over the course of the next few weeks, all games across both Xbox Live and PSN will have their respective online passes free for purchase.
Sucks for those of us who bought these games used earlier though, huh?
Ed note: This offer even extends to Alice: Madness Returns. The original American McGee’s Alice was attached to the sequel, and is now available as a free download, although you still need Madness Returns to play it.
