Xbox 360’s fall dashboard update will make the switch from Microsoft Points to a marketplace based on real currency. This was noted by Microsoft some time ago, yet questions remained, including what would happen to stores carrying Points cards?
“Until further notice,” Microsoft will continue to accept these cards as valid Marketplace currency, transforming Points into your actual currency. Note points/funds transferred as the time of the update do still expire after a years time.
What of other programs? Xbox Live Rewards is currently on hiatus, but promising “big changes.” What of Bing Rewards, which offers MS Points as a bonus for using the search engine? No statement has been made, and Bing Reward points can still be turned into Microsoft Points as of this writing.
