Outstanding mash-up, bringing in Contra, Mega Man, and Metroid, to create a retro paradise in modern mindsets. Fluid shooting and boldly scaled environments create an interesting visual playfield to override feelings of pedestrian ideas. ARES hardly hides his robotic Mega Man roots, with gained powers and move set all too similar. However, the world is crusted with rust, breaking down to drop the familiar colorful facade of Capcom’s hero. Analog stick shooting does lack precision, but targets are scaled up to match with generous hit boxes.
