PlayStation 4 DualShock Compatible with PCs

Sony’s latest iteration of the PlayStation controller will offer some PC connectivity out of the box. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide, confirmed the information over Twitter, although failed to elaborate further. When asked about releasing drivers for PC gamers, Yoshida replied:

“The analog stick and buttons work just fine… for basic functions.”

Joystiq notes PC controllers offer XInput functionality as support for Xbox 360 controllers, which would seem to create a conflict with Sony’s own peripherals.

Yoshida did not elaborate further as to how this all pieces together. Clearly, special functionality (touch pad use) would need programmed on the game side, although for basic button/stick assignment, Sony’s latest would seem to fit.

Certainly, the mod community may take up a cause if it gains enough weight, too.
