Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold promotion, dubbed Games with Gold, has dumped a number of free digital games into the laps of consumers. As an unofficial competitor to Sony’s PS Plus, the bonus has given subscribers games such as Assassin’s Creed II and most recently, Halo 3. Gold members are currently recipients of two games per month, and originally, this promo was set to end in December.
Now, Microsoft has made the decision to extend this Games with Gold offer until… whenever they say otherwise. This currently does not extend to Xbox One – as if the console would offer enough games to justify such a program – but will continue to service the massive Xbox 360 install base. Note the games continue to be available even if you unsubscribe to Xbox Live.
Microsoft has not announced any additional games after Halo 3, which is removed from the offer on October 31st.
