Defective Xbox One Console Users to Receive Free Game

Complaints of noisy disc drives (or even dead ones) have marred an otherwise successful Xbox One launch. Microsoft states the number of affected users is a “small percentage” of console buyers – likely identical to Sony’s 1% number regarding the “blue light of death” on PlayStation 4.

Still, Microsoft is making things right. Those affected by the issues will be receiving one of four first party games for free, digitally. Users can choose between Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome or Zoo Tycoon. This offer only extends to those who chose the advanced exchange option which places a $500 hold on the credit card associated with the Xbox Live account. This allows Microsoft to send a replacement console immediately instead of waiting for the customer to ship theirs first. Free games certainly ease the pain of having such a hold on the repair.
