Week in Arcade: Far Cry Classic

It’s a $10 HD makeover for a first-person classic.

Far Cry Classic

While lacking in the complexity of its sequel cousins, Far Cry’s novel charms remain in this touched up remake. While it seems strange to put Far Cry here (with some hefty pop-up and texture draw in) instead of Xbox One or PlayStation 4, this open world war zone still puts up a fight. Mechanically jumpy and lacking in precision, this near retro shooter inhabits a bridged zone between growing shooter dominance and current gameplay. With open landscapes to attack and secrets to find, this remains a hefty time sink. If you want to re-enter the world of Far Cry, this is the version you’re looking for.
