Earlier this March, Microsoft’s Xbox Division was without a lead as Marc Whitten stepped down to head audio company Sonos.
Prior to March’s end, longtime Microsoft employee and lead at Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer will be in charge of the Xbox division. His responsibilities spread across games, music, and movies. Spencer reports to Terry Myserson who manages Microsoft’s operating systems, allowing Phil to keep in sync with changes to the cross-platform approach.
Xbox devotees will know Spencer from his casual approach to E3 presentations. Under Spencer, franchises such as Gears of War and Forza were born, strengthening first party software in the process.
